WHY YOU SHOULD TEST YOUR DOG.
Let me explain a few things or words for thought on this subject. I will be honest I was not going to test my first DD I ever got until a few things came to light for me. I hope this will help you make your mind up why one should test regardless if you intend to breed or not.
1- Go and watch a test ask your self why you are investing a little more money to get a PROVEN line of versatile hunting dogs. I realized this when I watched a test and seen some things that impressed me about this breed of dogs. I had owned some really nice dogs before but these dogs were a lot more different and consistent. The testing is a right of passage and a measure system to help improve the breed.
2- I promise you will train more extensively than you would have other wise increasing your investment on your purchase. Because your dog is trained more this means obviously more productive hunting trips and I also find people have more obedient hunting dogs because of testing which makes the wife and family a lot happier too.
3- I also promise this will make you a better handler, and trainer than you ever were before. And again a better investment.
4- The DD community is here to help you we are all striving to make the perfect all around dog. We are not completely there yet but we are extremely close. We have training days, work shops, mock tests, and guys like myself and many more that are willing to help you. Your breeder should be willing to be and information source or sounding board in any help that is needed. Sometimes its nice to put a few heads together to get a better result.
