I grew up with labs for waterfowl and GSP for upland game dogs.  I came across my first good wirehair and had to have one. I was in  heaven it was a dog that could do both.  I shortly in my hunting career was frustrated to try to replace and produce a consistent wirehair.  This started my search for a quality or more pure wirehair.  To make this brief I came across the Drahthaar and at first thought this would really improve my wirehairs.  In my search to find the right DD I seen something I that really impressed me at an HZP in Logan Utah,  from a first time handler from Colorado.  I realized I owed it to the breed to follow their rules because they had something NO ONE ELSE DOES!
I seen the light and began my testing experience and have tested many dogs since I will admit it is addicting.
I am a professional trainer by trade and also upland and waterfowl guide full time.  I have to have a dog that is effective and professional because my livelihood depends on it.  I am blessed to have a wife and family that is apart of this with me and we work it together.
I seperate my Drahthaars from my training profession in away that I don't produce my dogs for my budgeted income.  I don't believe DD should be sold commercially or profit only,  we must always put emphasis to improve the breed.
MY desired DD or what I  look to produce is a DD's  that is noble and confident but Kind towards people and other dogs  and biddable to train and be handled.  I seek to have a strong desire or (heart) to hunt and hunt for the handler.  I must have strong search, point, track, quality of nose, and retrieve drive.  I also want a dog that can switch tasks  and come in the house or duck blind and shut down  completely we call it having a switch.  A really important thing I desire to have in my dogs is  a harsh flat lying coat and conformation that helps them have stamina and rebound from a tough day of hunting.   I desire to have a quite dog in the kennel and not messy or nervous dog that I call a pacer.

I have been running DDs since 2003 and have ran many DD's since then.  I most recently became a certified judge for the VDD to help further help in the cause and help me learn more what these dogs truly can be.

THERE IS NOTHING IN THIS WORLD LIKE A DOG THAT WILL GIVE YOU A HUNDRED AND TEN PERCENT REGARDLESS HOW TIRED OR HARD THE TASK IS.  THERE IS A CONNECTION AND BOND THAT IS SO DEEPLY ROOTED  BETWEEN A GOOD DOG AND PROUD OWNER WHEN THEY ARE IN COMPLETE UNISON AND EFFECTIVE AS A PARTNERSHIP.
